A GoFundMe campaign benefitting an Uber driver that was attacked last weekend after asking a rider to put on a mask has raised $45,000 and counting.

The viral incident, caught on Subhakar Khadka’s rearview mirror video, happened in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood on Sunday afternoon.
He said that when he picked up the three women near San Bruno Ave. and Silver Ave., one of the passengers wasn’t wearing a mask and got angry when he asked her to put one on. Two of the three women in the vehicle started yelling racial slurs and threatened to shoot him.
One of the women, who hasn’t been identified, coughed on Khadka, told him she had the coronavirus, ripped his phone off the vehicle’s dashboard and tore his mask off. When they finally got out of the car, Khadka alleges one of them sprayed pepper spray into the car through a crack in the passenger side window.
Khadka, 32, is a Nepalese immigrant and 'unable to work due to this trauma,' the GoFundMe page said.
Uber immediately banned the woman from the ride-sharing service.
'Uber then failed to step up to take care of this Uber driver,' the GoFundMe page said of the company's actions. 'They instead began with only offering $20 in compensation for having pepper spray covering his interior fabric. They then upped it to $120 in compensation, but this does not come close to the expenses needed to have a professional car detailing to try and remove the strong chemicals of pepper spray and also the lost wages from not being able to work.'
An explicit video was later posted to social media purported to show the unidentified woman at the center of the incident, in which she said she was planning to sue Uber. 'That’s why I take Lyft,' she added.

In a statement to KCBS Radio, Lyft clarified 'the unacceptable treatment of the driver in this video compelled us to permanently remove the rider from the Lyft community. Driving in a pandemic is not easy. Please wear a mask, respect one another, and be a good person.'
